Scholarship
The Paula K. Strutzel Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of our Past President, Paula, who was a single mother and a champion of education. She always stressed "to never stop reading and learning". Paula was not only known for her activism with the association, but as a leader that inspired us all.
The Washington State Association of Permit Technicians offers a monetary scholarship to an individual applicant who meets the following qualifications and criteria of such scholarship. The scholarship is available to WSAPT members in good standing, children of such members. and members of ICC Chapters within the State of Washington. Such applicants shall be enrolled in an accredited course in one of the following fields of study: Construction Management, Building or Fire Code Administration, Planning or Land Use, Business Administration or a related technical field. Applications received must demonstrate a grade point average of 3.0 or better and meet the course enrollment career field(s) as stated above. First consideration shall be given to WSAPT members in good standing, second consideration shall be given to children of WSAPT members in good standing and third consideration shall be given to members of ICC Chapters within the State of Washington and their children. The scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $ 250.00 per year.
In addition to the educational scholarship, one (1) ICC Permit Technician Certification fee will be awarded to a member in good standing who is not reimbursed for the cost of the examination. To be awarded the reimbursement, the member shall successfully pass the certification exam and if employed by a jurisdiction, submit a letter from the jurisdiction's Building Official stating that they do not reimburse the employee for the cost of the exam.
